Choose Grosgrain ribbon to give a luxurious classic finish, whatever your project. Grosgrain ribbon is a plain weave corded ribbon with a ribbed appearance created by the weft thread being heavier than the warp. This corded appearance makes it the ideal choice for trimming hats, dresses hair slides etc. but it is also a good choice as a smart looking embellishment for decorating gift boxes. It makes the perfect trim for formal buttonholes, or used as a finishing touch to wedding, christening and other special occasion stationery and invitations. Formerly more commonly called Petersham ribbon, Grosgrain ribbon has always been popular with tailors and dressmakers and knitters. Sewn to the right side of the fabric it will give a complimentary or contrasting finish, and is widely used to sew to the inside of knitting and dressmaking seams to help a garment keep its shape, around a rib or neckline for example.
