Hurricane Vases

We stock glass hurricane vases (often called wind lights) in a variety of styles and sizes. All are suitable for standing on tables and other flat surfaces and some can also be hung indoors or outdoors.

Versatile and very good value for money, hurricane vases are traditionally used for holding church or pillar candles (especially when used outside, where they provide the candle with protection from the wind). However, they look equally good when used as elegant floral vase and make wonderful table centrepieces and containers for other decorative material, such as potpourri.

Our 'Rico' hurricane vase would be perfect to use in a nautical setting as a hurricane lamp. Made from recycled glass, it has a heavy base and thick cord handle and, with the pretty flower festival stencil decoration, also lends itself perfectly to being used as a large flower vase. The pretty ‘Claire’ hurricane vase (also made from recycled glass) has a powder coated metal hanger. Both of these are ideal for decorating outdoor evening venues, and look good placed at the edges of steps and paths holding tea light candles or Décor lights to provide subtle illumination for a walkway.

Our pretty ribbed glass hurricane lamp is perfect to display on a table to hold candles or flowers or suspended by the wire handle and displayed as part of a larger arrangement, or hung from tree branches and bushes in an evening setting. An assortment of hurricane vases, in different styles and sizes, grouped together and filled with cottage garden flowers and foliage makes a lovely informal table display that would be perfect for an informal country style wedding party. Then, later when the lights are dimmed, the flowers in some can be replaced by tea light candles or LED fairy lights, to provide soft illumination and romantic atmosphere.

A very easy seasonal table centrepiece can be created by placing a red pillar or church candle inside a tall, clear glass hurricane vase then simply placing a festive berried and ribboned candle ring around the base.
